Table cloths, runners, placemats and napkins for everyday meals and the ones you remember, woven by hand in Barrydale.
Our table linen is woven on hand looms in Barrydale from unbleached cotton grown in South Africa. Colours repeat across each range, so napkins, placemats and a cloth or runner can match. Our size guide matches table cloth and runner sizes to tables, from a two seater to a ten seater.

How it is made
every coloured line is a change of bobbin
Every coloured line in our table linen means a change of bobbin on the loom. Jackie, Temmy, Perci and Matty weave the napkins and table cloths. Surellen and Vuyo weave the striped placemats and runners. Mingo weaves the Thick Weave placemat and runner in plain natural. The cotton is grown and spun in South Africa. Each piece is washed hot and tumble dried so it will not shrink, then ironed and checked by hand before it is packed.

Table cloths
Our table cloths come in two widths, 140 cm and 165 cm, and five lengths from 200 cm to 400 cm. To choose a length, measure your table and add 80 cm, which gives a 40 cm drape at each end. As a guide, 140 x 250 cm suits a four seater and 165 x 350 cm an eight seater. For a length we do not list, write to retail@barrydaleweavers.co.za. The Country cloth starts at R1,069 and the Contemporary cloth at R1,569.
Table runners
Runners are 40 cm wide, in lengths from 1.2 m to 4 m. A 1.8 m runner suits a four seater, 2.2 m or 2.5 m a six seater and 3 m an eight seater. The Thick Weave runner is plain natural cotton, from 30 x 80 cm for a side table or bureau to 40 x 250 cm.
Placemats and napkins
Placemats are 30 x 40 cm and napkins 40 x 40 cm, both from R109. Our Placemat & Runner Sets pair striped placemats with a matching runner for a four or six seater table.
Care and delivery
Wash at 40°C, then air dry or tumble dry. Every piece is pre-shrunk, so it keeps its size in the wash. All our table linen is woven by hand at our Weavery in Barrydale, South Africa. Delivery anywhere in the country is free on orders over R800.
Questions
What size table cloth do I need?
Measure your table and add 80 cm to its length, which leaves a 40 cm drape at each end. A 140 x 250 cm cloth fits a four seater, 165 x 300 cm a large six seater and 165 x 350 cm an eight seater. Every size is on our size guide.
Can I order a table cloth in a custom length?
Yes. Write to retail@barrydaleweavers.co.za with the length you need.
How do I wash table linen?
Wash at 40°C, then air dry or tumble dry. Every piece is pre-shrunk with a hot wash and a tumble dry before it leaves us, so it keeps its size.
